主人公鹰原羽依里为了整理已故祖母的遗物，利用暑假独自来到了鸟白岛。某一天，下了联络船（一天只发数条）的时候，与一位少女相遇。少女一边让海风吹拂着她的头发，一边在远眺着既不能说是大海也不能说是天空的境界线。一不留神，少女就不知去向了，羽依里怀着感觉像是被狐狸偷走的心情了，走向外祖母的宅子。在那里，亲戚的阿姨已经在整理遗物了。羽依里一边帮助整理祖母回忆中的物品，一边对第一次接触到的“岛上的生活”感到困惑，顺势而为。和在都市生活中无法了解的自然进行着亲密接触。就是这样的生活，让人想起了忘记的令人怀念的东西。
